Has there ever been a time when people haven’t used God? right from the start, from the time that man came into the story, God has been ripped off. the being that is supposed to have the highest intelligence of all is the one, it seems, with the smallest capacity for respect and compassion. the ones supposedly created in the image of the great creator are without doubt, the ones who demonstrate the almost exact opposite of the character we are told is God’s. we steal from God, we misrepresent God, we abuse, kill, and oppress others in his name, we justify our hatreds by him, we expect him to behave how we want him to and then we blame him, abuse him, reject him and deny him if things don’t go our way. this petty attitude lives among both men and women and everyone in between and in all faiths as far as I can see. God is one small compartment of our lives where we can be safe from any of his accusations and his admonishments. it is a wonder that we are not left totally abandoned by him … or are we? we are so out of touch, have our history and attitudes built such a great chasm that we have lost our way back completely? we are such great deceivers of ourselves that even God cannot penetrate our hearts any longer … I wonder … do we even have hearts left for God to penetrate? have we become so hardened by our own thoughts and selfishness that every part that was once flesh, able to be revived, has now turned to stone?
